The Importance of Studies in God’s Kingdom
Do you find it hard to explain to a youth why
God wants him to study hard in school? They may ask, “What has Geometry got
to do with serving God?!” I get real uncomfortable whenever I hear a youth
mentor or leader says something like this: “We should put God’s work before
our studies.” This statement is strange because for the great majority of
youths, their God-given “work” is to “study”! Here are a few good reasons why a youths
should study hard: 1. To improve his ability to secure a better
paying job so as to support the family and bless the church and society. 2. To fully develop his God-given talent so as
to use it to benefit the people he serve through his future work. 3. To develop Godly virtues (like patience,
diligence, wisdom, discernment, self-control etc.) through a disciplined
study-life. 4. To be a good testimony in school as a
conscientious student. Of course, to the “kia-su”
youth who studies 24/7 or the “last-minute” youth who studies only on Sunday
(and skip church), we ought to tell them that the above reasons is no excuse
for them to live a “God-less” life. Our youths should learn to put aside time
daily to pray and read His word, and weekly to worship God in church,
fellowship with other youths and serve in whatever capacity he can. I hope this helps you to explain to a
Christian youth why God wants him to study hard… Click here for more perspectives |

FAITH FACTOR IS
MOVING TO SATURDAYS
Faith Factor is our weekly youth meeting
on Sundays (9am – 10:30am) where the youths will worship God together, learn God’s
word and spend time in fellowship. It is also a place where seekers can
discover God. we are determined to develop Faith
Factor into the premium youth program for God-seeking youths in In order to achieve that, the Youth Ministry is going to make a bold move. From November this year, Faith Factor shall move to Saturday afternoons. The youth leaders have 3 main reasons for this move: 1. To Improve the quality of learning and interaction. The
current 1.5 hr program is too rushed. 2. To make our program more seekers-friendly. Saturday
afternoons are great times to invite non-Christian youths to church. 3. To develop “independence” in our youths’ faith. Our
youths will have to come “by choice” rather than “by convenience”. By now, you may be able to sense the “determination” of our leaders to make youth ministry work in KPC. You must do your part too. If you’re a parent, please try your best to free Saturday afternoons for your youths. If they have tuitions or enrichment programs, please make provision to reschedule them when November comes. Your support will be the greatest encouragement to them in their spiritual journey! |
